Celebrating Bromley SEND Stars Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday 1st November Sarah Larner, Head of Early Years, attended Bromley's inaugural Celebrating Bromley SEND Stars Award Ceremony. This was an event put on by the borough to celebrate the accomplishments of Bromley children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families.

This year, one of the nominees was Sophia, the elder sister of Toby, an Early Years’ alumni. You may have seen some stories over the last year about the fantastic support Sophia has shown BeyondAutism.

Sophia received a nomination for her brilliant work fundraising for BeyondAutism through sponsored silences. In her first year, doing the challenge solo, she raised an incredible £780. But that wasn’t enough for Sophia and the following year she enlisted the help of friends, cousins and Brownies and between them they raised £2,000! You can read more about her challenges here.

Here Sophia and Sarah are pictured with the Mayor of Bromley with Sophia holding her certificate for her nomination for the SEND Champion for Peers and Siblings category. We are extremely grateful for all her fundraising efforts and very proud of this well-earned recognition.
